Saskatchewan: A Unique Vacation Destination
Joni Mitchell, Leslie Neilson, and Pamela Wallin are not Saskatchewan’s only claim to fame. This Canadian Province, known as “The Land of the Living Skies,” is where the past meets the present and the wild meets civilization. Rolling hills, boreal forest, and dazzling waterways promise an unforgettable vacation.
Dinosaurs and Plains Bison
Southern Saskatchewan is property to some of Canada’s most incredible wildlife and ecosystems. The natural beauty of wheat fields, wild prairie landscapes, and Aboriginal Culture flourish here. Hiking, horseback, and driving tours give everyone a chance to see Grasslands National Park. Numerous endangered species such as the burrowing owl, the swift fox, and the black tailed prairie dog inhabit this vast prairie landscape. You can also watch wild bison a short drive away at Old-Man-on-His-Back Conservation Area.
Eastend, Saskatchewan, home of “Scotty the T-Rex,” has the T-Rex Discovery Center. The center is full of informational and interactive displays. Along with guided tours and a gift shop, you have the opportunity to watch actual paleontologists at function or attempt your luck at obtaining your own dinosaur bones.
